Programme Content
Team Formation and Leadership
- Auditing the work area
- Making work easier by eliminating obstacles and unnecessary items
- The characteristics of a high performing team; Team roles and responsibilities
- Decision-making techniques e.g. consensus, authority rule, majority rule
Project Management
- Business case, risk analysis and management, toll-gate reviews, work breakdown structure, lessons learned, pilot studies, project review, process management and measures, benefits tracking.
- Project selection & scope: Y=f(x) equation (outputs are the result of inputs), business scorecard cascade
Change Management
- Stakeholder identification, analysis and management (RACI).
- Change curve, resistance characteristics, change sponsorship, compelling point of view

- Reporting templates, message mapping, case for change
5. Principles and Methods
- Business value of Lean and Six Sigma improvement methods - 8D, practical problem solving, Dene Measure Analyse Improve Control, Design for Six Sigma
- Process mapping & analysis: Swim lane, value stream map, performance metrics – continuous, Parameter diagram,, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, theory of constraints principles, Kanban; Using stacked bar charts
- Process capability & performance: Capability analysis – continuous data for normal distribution
- Root cause analysis: Key principles including symptoms, failure-mode, potential/verified cause, critical inputs, escape point.
- Experimentation: Active versus passive analytics, design of experiments, experiment plan
6. Data Analysis, Statistics and Measurement
- Spreadsheets and pivot table analysis, statistical analysis software, Pareto analysis, Histograms, Scatter Charts, Process Mapping
- Measurement systems: Repeatability and Reproducibility principles
- Basic statistics & measures: Control charts - attribute data, principles of normality; Data analysis - statistical methods: Measures of central tendency and spread
- Graphical representation of data with dot, scatter and box plots

- Speak and write clearly. Influence others, question effectively. Plan and deliver meetings presenting insight to engage audiences

Reflect Apprenticeships
The entire programme can be delivered at the employer’s premises, remotely online or as a combination of the two. Our approach offers complete flexibility for apprentices to access our support at any time which suits their particular needs and those of their employer. We utilise a blended delivery model comprising group workshops, one-to-one coaching and mentoring and online teaching resources which are provided through our e-portfolio and virtual learning environment platforms.
Duration
The apprenticeship will typically take 14 months to complete.
Qualifications
Where an apprentice has not already achieved Level 1 English and Maths, they must do so before completing the apprenticeship.
Progression
Achievement of this apprenticeship is ideal preparation for the Improvement Specialist Apprenticeship Standard, Management/Team Leader Apprenticeship or Coaching Professional
Key Responsibilities of suitable applicants
Typically, Practitioners lead smaller projects and/or play a key supporting role in a larger programme – tackling issues that may require swift problem solving or reoccurring challenges that require in-depth analysis and the implementation of a range of effective and sustainable countermeasures.
